Do This Before Going to Bed To Rebuild Your Gums

Dental health is an essential part of maintaining a healthy body. While we focus a lot on having shiny white teeth it is important not to forget the role our gums play. Unhealthy gums can lead to gingivitis and if left untreated can cause periodontitis.

There are long-term problems associated with this including receding gum lines that can ultimately cause loose teeth or even teeth loss. However, there are some easy ways you can prevent gum disease.

Most of the commercial toothpaste and mouthwash available are full of chemical ingredients, artificial sweeteners, and fluoride. If you are like me and try to avoid chemicals and artificial ingredients shopping for dental care products can be challenging. Even the “natural” brands contain questionable ingredients.

After much searching, I discovered that it was easy to make my own products. Once I realized how little time and money were involved in the process, I wondered why it had taken me so long to make the switch.

Natural Toothpaste

  • ¼ cup Coconut Oil
  • ¼ cup Baking Soda
  • 10-15 drops Peppermint Essential Oil

If your coconut oil is hard at room temperature, gently heat it in a double boiler until it is melted. Add the peppermint EO to the melted coconut oil. Mix the coconut oil and baking soda together until smooth and creamy. Store in a small mason jar. You will need a small spoon to scoop the toothpaste onto your brush.

Toothpaste isn’t the only thing that is full of artificial ingredients. Mouthwash is also full of artificial colors, flavors, and chemicals. I mean look at the color- that’s clearly not natural. But more disturbing are the antibacterial properties of mouthwash. Mouthwash is designed to kill the bacteria in your mouth but it has no way to single out just the harmful bacteria. Instead, it kills all the bacteria both good and bad. There are many beneficial bacteria in our mouths that help fight problems like tooth decay and gum disease.

In fact, studies have been shown that people who eat fermented foods high in probiotic lactic acid bacteria actually have healthier teeth with less tooth decay. Now, I’m not going to suggest you start washing your mouth out with pickle juice before bed but what you can do is to switch from commercial mouthwash to a natural mouth wash that provides more benefits to your dental health. Made with baking soda and salt, this mouthwash easy to make and costs way less than what you will find at the store, and helps improve your gum health.

Natural Mouthwash

  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 10 drops EO for flavor (Peppermint, cinnamon, and clove are good choices)

Dissolve the baking soda and salt into the water. Add the EO. Mix well. Store in a mason jar with a lid. Shake vigorously before use to ensure the ingredients are mixed well. Swish a mouthful for 30 seconds every evening before bed.

Another option to improve gum health is to make a turmeric paste to apply to your gums. Turmeric is commonly used in many traditional Indian remedies. It is known for its anti-inflammatory qualities. This turmeric paste can be rubbed into your gums at night before bed and again in the morning. It will help improve your gum health, stop bleeding gums, and remove plaque.

Turmeric Gum Paste

  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp mustard oil

Combine the ingredients together and massage into your gums.

It is easy to find natural solutions to help improve your dental hygiene. All you need to do is make simple changes to your current dental routine. Try making natural toothpaste, switching from an antibacterial mouthwash, or oil pulling. By following the small steps you can easily begin to rebuild your gums naturally.

Coconut Oil Pulling

You probably are already brushing and flossing before bed. Another solution to help repair gums is oil pulling.

An ancient Ayurvedic technique, oil pulling has been used in India for centuries. Oil pulling is said to “pull” harmful bacteria and toxins as well as clean your teeth, helping to improve gum health and the overall health of your body. Oil pulling is really quite simple. You simply swish a tablespoon of oil around in your mouth. Coconut and sesame oil are the most common oils used but you can also use olive oil as well.

Normally you swish for 15-20 minutes to achieve the maximum effects before you spit out the oil. It can be a bit difficult at first so if you can’t handle 15 minutes start with 5 minutes at a time and slowly work your way up to longer durations. You can do this in the evening before bed and it will help improve your gum health.

Clove application

Though more specific research is needed, several studies point to the potential of cloves to prevent plaque and reduce inflammation.

That’s because cloves have antiviral and antioxidant properties. They may also help to relieve pain.

To apply cloves topically:

  • Mince about 1 teaspoon of cloves
  • Dip a damp cotton ball into the minced cloves, getting as much as you can onto the cotton ball
  • Gently rub the clove-covered cotton ball onto your gums
  • Let the cloves sit on your gums for about a minute
  • Swish water around your mouth to collect all of the cloves
  • Spit the clove water out

You shouldn’t use cloves in large quantities or for long periods of time.

Best Ways to Boost Your Immune System

With the Corona virus shutting down many countries in 2020, individuals with health challenges have chosen to limit social contacts and shutter in. Health organizations have focused prevention on social distancing, hand washing and face mask wearing.

We have an immune system which has successfully fought off illnesses throughout history. The famous germ theory versus terrain debate is what divides integrative medicine from more conventionally practiced medicine. Those in the terrain health camp know the immune system is the key to fighting all viruses and illness, including the most recent covid-19 virus.

While washing hands, limiting contact with sick individuals and quarantine of ill persons has been successfully used historically, what also makes sense is building one’s immune system. There are many steps one can take to do so. These include sunbathing, outdoors activity, exercise, good sleep, earthing, positive outlooks, healthy diets, and taking targeted nutritional supplements, vitamins and herbs.

By increasing one’s self care protocol, you can take charge of your health and feel safer when venturing out during the current pandemic. There are also steps one can take if symptoms of illness arise like sore throats, runny nose and coughing for extra boosting and healing.

Benefits of Sun

The benefits of sunshine to health are well established. Only recently have individuals been warned to limit sun exposure. Sun is now well known to help create vitamin D, but natural light has many more health benefits, including increasing immune function, improving eye sight, increasing mitochondria and creating healing. Sunbathing for a minimum of 20 minutes daily is recommended during warmer months, but exposure of eyes and skin throughout the year is beneficial.

Exercise

Excersing is another way to boost one’s immune system and mood. Exercise is a well established activity that improves sleep, mood, heart and lung health. Every organ of one’s body benefits from movement.  Both cardiovascular and strength training activities are beneficial. Walking and spending time outdoors

Walking outdoors is a safe activity most can engage in to help with mood and overall health. During these times of limited social activity, it is especially important to get outdoors and enjoy the healing benefits of sunshine, fresh air and the sounds of nature. Walking outdoors barefoot, with one’s feet touching the ground, is even healthier, because the earth’s electrons are anti-inflammatory and healing. Spending time in nature is also known to be calming and beneficial to health.

Sleep

While sleeping our bodies heal and rejuvenate. Seven to nine hours is recommended and earlier is better if possible. Listening to your body and getting adequate sleep is essential for good health. Natural supplements which can help with sleep include GABA and L-tryptophan. If needed CBD oil is another safe supplement which can enhance sleep. Epsom salt baths, minimizing blue light exposure in the evening and developing  good sleep hygiene habits are important steps toward improving and maintaining good sleep.

Dr. Weston Price studied endemic cultures for 10 years in the early 1930’s discovering that these people enjoyed superior mental, physical and dental health by eating unprocessed foods available to them, including raw foods and healthy animal fats. These cultures consumed 4 to 10 times more water and fat soluble vitamins compared to the average American diet at that time. They enjoyed a natural immunity to tuberculosis which was common then. They also had perfect teeth, with no cavities or need for orthodontia.

An easy way to remember these dietary principles is to eat foods the way your great grandparents ate them, before the advent of fake, highly processed and unhealthy non foods. Every culture has traditional, healthy and delicious foods for both daily eating and special occasions.

Eating sunny side up pastured eggs with true sourdough bread toast with raw butter for breakfast, along with some fruit is nutrient dense. Old fashioned chicken soup, made from simmering pastured chicken or chicken bones with added vegetables, is full of vitamins. Best Supplements

A good multi vitamin is essential now because our soils are very depleted of nutrients. Cod liver oil and K2 are important immune boosters. Cod liver oil contains vitamins  A and D in a perfect ratio. For virus prevention, vitamin C is a true superpower. Liposomal vitamin C is best absorbed and 1-10 grams can be taken daily. Tremendous research shows vitamin D is essential for our health and protective for Covid. Zinc combined with quercetin are also good for viral protection. B complex vitamins help mood and immunity. Omega 3 fish oil is a good overall supplement. Iodine, magnesium, glutathione, berberine, goldenseal, echinacea, Reishi mushrooms, colloidal silver, Kaolic garlic, ginger and selenium are other immune boosters.

Important supplements to treat a viral infection

Vitamin C is magical and high dosages can greatly help the immune system fight the cytokine storm resulting from a viral infection. Zinc and Quercetin can also greatly reduce a viral load associated with an infection. Increasing or maintaining other immune boosters is also beneficial when fighting any type of viral infection. Corona Virus–empower yourself with knowledge and stop feeling helpless. You’re not.

If you watch the news, you know that fears about the Corona virus are the top news story every night. How much of the information is actually useful though?  Do you have a mask yet? Are you freaking out because there’s no hand sanitizer to be found? Grocery stores and even large chain home improvement stores are selling out of both. Even Aloe Vera is difficult to find as panic gripped people try to make their own sanitizer.

The government uses these virus fear tactics to control populations. People trust that the government will protect them. People willingly give up their rights and freedom for
security and “protection”. Fear is paralyzing and proven to lower IQ to almost childlike status. That’s how they control you.  Most of those who die from these global virus events are people who are already immune system compromised with physical, chemical, or emotional stress before they are infected.

So wouldn’t logical thinking tell you to improve your own immune system to protect yourself?

A few years ago in 2015, the global fear was the mosquito spreading Zika virus to vulnerable pregnant women. Zika infection during pregnancy could result in a brain condition called microcephaly to the child.  Before that it was Ebola and SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). Are you aware that SARS first appeared in 2003 and is caused by the coronavirus (SARS-CoV)? (Resources) And yet, everyone reading this survived—or your parents did.

People recover. Humans have
survived plagues and viruses since the beginning of time. A virus is a virus. Your
body is equipped.

Understanding how a virus
replicates once inside your body is far more beneficial than buying a mask and
hand sanitizer to fight it. And hand sanitizer is so over rated. It contains
cancer-causing ingredients.  It actually
dries out your hands and destroys the natural Creator given protective flora
and oil glands on the largest organ of the body—your skin. This leads to
secondary infections. Studies have shown that hand sanitizer takes 4 minutes of
vigorous scrubbing to actually kill germs on your hands. (Resources below)
Meanwhile you are stripping your skin of the very bacterial defenders you need
to survive. Healthy skin is your first line of defense. Keep in mind, your body
knows perfectly and exactly how to prevent viruses from entering your body. Your
skin is comprised of millions of protective bacterial species. Unless you scrub
them off! Bacillus subtilis, for just one example, fights off other harmful
bacteria and was used to make the antibiotic ointment Bacitracin.

Sadly, most medical
intervention is counter intuitive. Take the idea of fogging the air with
alcohol and sanitizers.  This actually
weakens the immune system response and predisposes people to further infection.
Think of hospitals—the pillars of sterilized sanitized institutions. There are
hand sanitizers outside every room. Yet, 1.7 million Americans develop
hospital-acquired infections each year and 99,000 of them die.  (Resources)
Infections like MRSA and C-diff are frequently acquired after a hospital
or nursing home stay. These secondary infections can be deadly or difficult to
treat at best. If you can’t kill germs in a hospital setting without causing secondary
infections—maybe the germs aren’t the problem.

Still, the fear mongering
media doctors tell us of makeshift hospital like quarantine centers where one
person can infect large groups of people and actually spread the disease.  Fear and panic weaken the immune system faster
than the medications they give you to suppress the symptoms.  And they’re not going to serve you natural
antivirals like garlic and blueberries. Or healing immune system boosters like
Kombucha, Kefir, or raw fermented veggies. Since part of your immune system is
located in your gut—it makes sense to improve your immune system by improving
your microbial diversity.  The more
variety of beneficial bacteria, the healthier the immune system.

If the media docs really
wanted to scare you awake—maybe they’d tell you that you have a much better
chance of dying from risk factors that have little to nothing to do with
viruses and everything to do with factors that are completely under your own
control.

The number of deaths by risk
factor in 2017 had 10.44 million people dying of high blood pressure and 6.53
million dying of high blood sugar. And despite all the research, all the money,
all the technological and medical advances—the number one and number two causes
of death have remained the same for decades: cardiovascular disease (17.79
million deaths in 2017) and cancer (9.56 million deaths in 2017). (Resources)  But keep taking those pills they give you
because your lifestyle has nothing to do with your dis-ease.

You can protect yourself from viruses by avoiding crowded public places like fitness gyms, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, mass transit, sporting events, cruise ships, and daycare.  If you or your kids are sick, stay home! Avoid public quarantine.

If you have to use a public
restroom—wash your hands and then use a paper towel, a tissue, your elbow, or
foot to open the door. Teach your children to do the same! Kids love to touch
everything and then touch their face. Consider shopping online and pick up at
the grocery store.  At least for the near
future, be vigilant. But always wash your hands. And always be vigilant.

Your throat has a
sophisticated intelligence system located in the small pores lining the back of
it, that act like a switchboard to detect foreign invaders and neutralize them.
The tonsils and adenoids are lymph tissue that hold these invaders so they
can’t get into your lungs. Unless you’ve had them removed. Coughing clears the
lymph. Giving drugs like Tylenol for fever, or cough medicine to suppress symptoms
only drives the virus deeper!  Viruses
like to hide in the lower part of the lungs where they can remain undetected
and multiply. The Wim Hof Method teaches deep breathing. (Resource) Very few
people know the simple yet profound power of deep breathing.

Despite what the media
doctors and social media tell us—Vitamin C is being used very effectively to
treat the coronavirus in Wuhan China. There are other crucial nutrients like

Vitamin A and D3 work at the
cellular level to prevent the virus particles from entering the cell. The
particles must gain entrance to the DNA in your cells in order to multiply. The
longer they remain locked outside the cell—the easier time your immune system
has to recognize them and destroy them. (See Passover Protocol below)

Some other helpful things you
can do right now to boost your immunity:

  • Decrease stress—meditate, pray, listen to music, deep
    breathe, turn off the TV and quit yelling at the nightly news (wait, that’s
    just me)
  • Get plenty of rest. Turn off the TV; leave your phone
    outside the room.  Optimal 7-8 hours. Complete
    Darkness. Sleep is when your body digests food and performs repairs.
  • Eat clean—natural, local, organic and include warm
    bone broths, garlic, onions, kombucha, kefir, and raw fermented veggies. Eat
    within an 8-hour period every day. Try to fast for 12-16 hours before you break
    your fast. If your body has too much food to digest (no midnight snacks)—it
    can’t work on the immune system repairs and rebuilding. Rest and Digest.  Your gut—like your skin, has billions of
    protective and beneficial bacteria. Feed them.
  • Activated Charcoal or Bentonite Clay to draw out
    toxins
  • Deep breathing—Wim Hof method
  • Far Infrared Sauna—sweat out those toxins!  Far infrared is safe for heart patients but
    check with your doctor just to be sure. (Resources)
  • Take a walk outside in fresh air and get some daily
    sunshine. If you can’t walk then sit outside in the sun and do some deep
    breathing. Spending time in nature is healing.

Please keep in mind (once again) that you were born with innate, Creator given protective mechanisms to ensure your survival. You were not born deficient in drugs to combat viruses. Educate and empower yourself with knowledge of how your body works.  Fear is paralyzing and incapacitating and leads to feelings of helplessness. But you are not helpless!

Focus on the things you can
control. You choose what public events you attend. You choose what you eat and
drink. You choose to feed the good bacteria that keep you alive every single
day. You choose to strengthen your immune system proactively and get plenty of
rest.  You choose to keep your family
safe. You choose not to be a victim.
